Media Coverage of Michelle’s Win

Great article about Michelle’s YQ300 win in the Whitehorse Star:http://www.whitehorsestar.com/Sports/michelle-phillips-bests-aliy-zirkle-again-in-yukon-quest-300

Also a good article in the Alaska Newsminer: http://www.newsminer.com/mushing/yukon_quest/extreme-cold-leads-to-king-s-decision-to-scratch-from/article_c5d0a894-b18a-11e4-a225-1be48c551b47.html#.VNrL-PSAzGl.facebook

Michelle Nears Finish Line of YQ300

Michelle is about 23 miles from the finish line at Pelly Crossing and she remains in first place. Her average moving speed is a little over 9 mph so we can expect to see her in Pelly sometime before midnight, hopefully sooner, but it depends on how often she stops to snack her dogs. Michelle’s team is Titan, China Girl, Gunner, Apollo, Darth, Herc, Little Red, Jazz, Mr Brown, Dojo, Molly, and Malkin. (Photos and info about her teams are on her website at https://tagishlakekennel.com/) Go Michelle!

Michelle & Ed Are Burning Up the Trail

Ed and Michelle are both doing very well. Ed’s average moving speed is 9.2 mph while Michelle has been averaging 10.5. (As I write this, she’s already passed Ed and is about 4 miles ahead of him.) The last reports are that Michelle is solidly in first place in the 300, with Aliy in second, but Aliy’s tracker hasn’t updated in awhile so it’s anyone’s guess exactly where she is. Ed will be taking his mandatory 6-hour rest at Carmacks when he gets there, probably late this afternoon. Michelle will also stay in Carmacks for her mandatory 6-hour rest.

YQ300 Rematch Between Michelle and Aliy

For the Yukon Quest 300 which begins tomorrow, Michelle drew bib #54 and guess who drew bib #55? Aliy Zirkle! Will it be another close race to the finish between the two last champions of the YQ300?
